More About Me

((Updated: May 5, 2011))
-My name is Cassandra (that's pronounced cas-san-dra, not cas-saun-dra, unless you're British), but to my close friends I'm Cass. To the people at Starbucks who can't ever seem to get the Cass part of the name, I'm Sandra. Then there is a rare bunch who call me Cassie, not because I asked them to, but just because they seem to like it--I don't mind.

-My birthday's November 22nd and I'm going to be 24 this year. Meh. Not looking forward to that. I haven't really appreciated getting older since I turned 18. I wish it would stop.

- I was born and raised in Northeastern Vermont, right next to French Canada. After eighteen years of that I finally got out and experienced life in other places. Since I graduated high school in 2006 I have lived in Hawaii, New Hampshire, and New York City. In June, pending visa approval, I will be moving to Luxembourg--as in that tiny European country that sits in between Belgium, France, and Germany.

-I started my college career as an Anthropology major, because bones and mummies and ancient cultures fascinated me, but after having to sit through a particularly boring History of Anthro class I said, "I'm done" and became an English major. It was a much better fit.

-I'm a bit of a geek, as my vast knowledge of Greek Mythology, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Mormonism, Romantic Literature, Tudor England, and Vampires,  can attest to.

-My all time favorite movies are Interview with the Vampire, The Princess Bride, Juno, The Breakfast Club, The Little Mermaid, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I can quote them, I own them, I've seen each one AT LEAST ten times (probably a whole lot more), and I never get sick of them. I'm not saying they're brilliant works of art, I just love them. Deal with it.

-My all time favorite bands/musicians are Hanson (yes, Hanson), The All-American Rejects, Third Eye Blind, John Mayer, David Bowie, The Fray, and Aerosmith (family obligation). I'm not saying this is the only music I like to listen to, they're just music I've been listening to for a while and still completely enjoy.

-Drinks? Beer my alcohol of choice. Wine's great, but I can easily slip over the edge from buzzed to trashed with wine, so I avoid it. Liquor was great when I was under 21...now it just makes me gag, unless it's in a fancy fruit-type cocktail thing. On a nonalcoholic side note: I do not drink milk--ever! Yuck. Also, not a big coffee fan--I prefer tea. Coke or Pepsi? COKE, every time. It has a bite to it. Pepsi is for the weak.

-Food? Almost anything pasta related: spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, tuna casserole, etc. I prefer pie to cake, though I'll always say yes to a cupcake. Candy: Twix, Almond Joys, and almost anything sour. I like my food a little spicy, although I'm not a big fan of Mexican. I do however enjoy Indian, Korean, and Thai. Other than the hating milk thing, I'm a Vermonter through and through and it shows in my food snobbery: I rather not have ice cream unless it's Ben and Jerry's, I have to have REAL maple syrup on my pancakes, and the only cheese I really LOVE is Cabot Extra Sharp (has to be extra sharp, regular sharp just doesn't do it).

-I'm a bit of a hippie (not too much though). As I said before, I used to work in a health food store. I've dreamed of living in a commune. I want to have my children the ol' natural way with a midwife at home. I love me some tie dye. I wish I could wear flip flops all the time (and I totally did when I lived in Hawaii). I'm a vegetarian (although I do occasionally partake in fish). And I always have hummus in the fridge.

-I am the fairy godmother to these two little girls.
